Your new windows come fully finished in a factory-applied Sikkens Rubbol micro-porous (acrylic-based) system. The standard paint finishes are white gloss and white satin. Custom colours and colour-matching are available on request.
All the windows we manufacture are made from sustainably sourced timber. We use either Grade A softwood or premium Accoya. Softwood products are treated to protect against wet-rot, dry-rot and woodworm and carry a 10 year guarantee. Accoya comes with a 50 year anti-rot guarantee, offers improved thermal properties and unrivalled structural stability.
It’s very important we understand the problems you face when using your existing windows so we can provide a suitable solution and quote tailored to your individual needs.
The options available can be very specific, depending on window types and the configuration of your property. There may also be restrictions if you live in a conservation area or if your property is listed.
We’ll discuss the various options with you in detail when we visit your home but, in brief, they are as follows:
Our draught-proof and service is designed to improve your existing windows’ efficiency (no draughts), function and security. All upgrades are applied from the inside of the property and there are no changes to the window’s overall appearance. This means upgrades can be applied to your sliding sashes without the need for consent if your building is listed or you live in a conservation area.
We’ll replace the staff and parting beads on your original windows (the new beads will incorporate concealed draught-proofing strips). The sashes will be re-weighed, re-corded and we’ll also fit new ironmongery if required. The ironmongery consists of a fitch catch (centre), sash lifts and security locks / child restrictors.
No redecoration is carried out as part of this service but the windows would be left operational and ready to be redecorated upon completion.
This is one of our most popular options and offers many of the benefits associated with completely new windows but without the cost or disruption during installation.
We’ll assess the original frames and lower cill sections during an initial survey, we can provide a quote to upgrade the sashes only. The old sliding sashes are carefully measured to ensure a close and sympathetic reproduction but the new top and bottom sash will include a double-glazed sealed unit. The double glazing is governed by the existing sash depth but we aim to install the very best unit available for the dimensions of your window. This helps to improve heat retention, reduce condensation and enhance your property.
All aspects of the draught-proof and service are included within this option as standard and heavier lead/steel weights are introduced to assist with smooth operation and correct counterbalancing. While the windows are out, we also fully redecorate the box frames inside and out giving you a hassle-free ‘finished’ job.
If your existing windows are rotten or beyond economic repair, completely new sash windows may be required (including the main box frame). We install FENSA compliant windows that have been tested to an energy rating of A. A FENSA certificate is an important document when selling your home, proving that your new windows were installed to the correct standards.
The total double glazed unit depth is 24mm (configuration 4/16/4 soft coat with argon gas filled cavity). This unit specification will comply with energy efficiency requirements and meets with PART L building regulations.
Complete new sash windows are manufactured from two types of timber; high grade redwood or Accoya and all our windows are factory-finished. New sashes can operate using traditional weights and cords or be spiral balanced if required - but we will always ensure character is retained.
We are able to manufacture close replicas of all types of timber sash windows including glazing bar patterns, horn details, inner or full arches and even the gothic arch style sash windows.

All lower sashes are installed with toughened safety glass as standard. We also toughen all glass situated in critical locations. Critical locations might include bathrooms, landings and stairways which present a risk of falling into the lower glass pane.
Toughened safety glass in the correct locations ensures compliance with PART K regulations. Allowing the glass to shatter, much as a car windscreen would do, offers peace of mind should an accident happen.
We offer a range of privacy glass types for bathrooms as well as decorative glass for front entrance doors or feature windows. Sandblasted lower panes in a sash window are always popular – sandblasting offers a smooth glass finish (easy to clean) and ensures plenty of light whilst being entirely private.
We also offer an acoustic laminate glass for properties located in busier than normal locations. The acoustic glass, on paper, offers a higher degree of sound proofing. It’s important to bear in mind though that every individual hears things slightly differently and every property is unique when it comes to sounds. Our team would be happy to run through this with you in detail when they visit.
If we’re installing energy efficient double glazed sash windows they have to come with an effective draught-proofing system. We use an integral 6.8mm brush pile draught excluder concealed within the staff and parting beads as standard. Draught-proofing strips are also machined into the lower sash meeting rail as well as an additional length of bead across the head of the top sash. This method not only helps eliminate draughts but also allows the window to slide up and down with minimal effort.
